Fashion Arizona 2018 Styling Competition

February 08.18 was definitely one for the books for Fashion Arizona!

Luxe & City brought a variety of artists, models and local influencers to the heart of Oldtown, Scottsdale. Guests enjoyed an evening at the pre - opening of Three Wisemen for an exciting event that showcased fashion installations by 5 Arizona leading stylists.

Each stylist's installation included 3 models that were styled by a local designer/boutique of choice. Guests were asked to walk among the large and spacious venue to interact ((and enjoy a drink)) and view each installation and decide for themselves, who was the top stylist?

Over 350+ guests filled the room, majority being local creatives. Votes were cast at the Luxe and City table, where each stylist had a slot for guests to enter their private vote for Fashion Arizona's Top Stylist. But who would win? Luxe and City brought a variety of talented stylists and their unique installations made it a tough decision for guests to choose just one.

Here are the 5 stylists and their brands that participated in the Fashion Arizona Styling Competition.

SIMP. by RayMauri' showcased streetwear with elegance and class.

SIMP's models (in order as pictured), Edwin Lunes, Tori Alondra and Chrisdeon Ayiyi, were styled head to toe in handmade creations by SIMP clothing. The variety of patterns and textures worked seamlessly together creating an eye catching installation that guests were immediately drawn to upon entering the door. Raymuri' hand makes each item, one for one, and focuses on crafting every piece with unique cuts, intermixed materials and luxurious hardware to complete the look. We are looking forward to seeing his summer line which will entail shorts and hopefully denim cut off vests. Raymuri' is definitely a designer you'll want to keep an eye on!

Frockify styled by Angel Rose showcased the beautiful "Pearl Girls".

Angel's installation was derived from a fresh palette of pearl whites and cream tones along with floral patterns interlacing every piece. The custom and handmade jewelry from Embellished Jewelry added the perfect touch of elegance to each model's look. If you look closely, you can see tiny pearls on each of her models faces to complete the 'Pearl Girl' look. Angel reminds us all that vintage gowns, when styled correctly, can be fashion forward and a force to be reckoned with. We can't wait to see future installations from this New York bad girl.

YOHVNIS styled by Anthony Leroux made a statement with 'Gratitude is Gangster' as the intention of his installation.

Each of Anthony's models (in order as pictured), Sydney Tolle, Amanda Meza, and Ryan Jordan Santana will instantly make you want to run to the gym while cutting your ego with those impeccable jawlines. Goodness, can we say #Aesthetic? I've been a huge admirer of Anthony's styling and his ability to create looks that capture the essence of zen while maintaining a high fashion attire with his luxurious fabric selections and clean accessories. His brand, YOHVNIS, represents gender fluid and diversity and pushes clothing to be in the form of ascension. His focus in creating fashion is to stick to 'intention'. Needless to say, we were very inspired by his installation and can't wait to see what else he releases in 2018.

Antique Sugar styled by Braden Conwell took us back into time for a stylish ride with a 50’s Hollywood ball room vibe.

Braden selected the color 'cherry' as his focal point for his models, Valerie Loo, the new "Face of AZFoothills", Taylor Scherek, 'Miss Teen Universe AZ". Braden brought us pleasingly graceful and stylish looks by utilizing clean necklines and waist tapering pieces from Antique Sugar. He styled his models with soft up-dos to complete the look that left us speechless by its beauty and grace. Pairing each model with gold jewelry and smart black outerwear pulled the look together for an overall clean, poised and we have to say 'Old Hollywood Glam' which no one could argue that this was one glamorous installation. Braden has been a member of the Phoenix Fashion Week Styling Team for 4+ years and is a talented hair stylist in Scottsdale, AZ. Its no question that he lives a creative and inspiring lifestyle at the young age of 20, we look forward to following his journey and supporting his beautiful spirit and style!

Last by not least, Weezy's Playhouse had the opportunity to showcase 'POISON' combining looks from City Royals Menswear and RockinStreetWear.

"PHXFW Top 40", Andra Tirdea, and PHXFW veteran, Kyle Manning intrigued the audience with their seductive and edgy wardrobe hand selected by Weez of Weezy's Playhouse ((hi guys!! it's me :D)). I chose looks that had multiple layers of dark tone fabrics, distressed denim and my personal favorite; leather. I wanted the viewer to feel like they were about to jump on the back of 59' Harley Davidson Panhead and meet our crew at a local speakeasy for a rock show. I am personally inspired by menswear having the ability to dissect and recreate looks that are not only gender friendly but push street style with edge and poise. My goal as a fashion stylist is to create, inspire and be inspired. I hope you continue to follow my journey as I've got quite a few tricks up my sleeve for 2018.

Luxe and City did an incredible job by selecting these top 5 stylists and their designers and brought quite the show to The Three Wisemen in Scottsdale!

The clock struck 830 and it was time for Luxe and City to start counting ballots. You couldn't help but want to peek at the stacks and try and find out who would be Fashion Arizona's Stylist of the evening.

Without further adieu, Alex Salazar of Luxe and City got on the mic and told us that votes were in andddd *drumroll* by a very close ballot count....

Weezy's Playhouse was crowned the winner!!!

We cannot reiterate enough how humbled we are for the opportunity that Luxe and City provided Weezy's Playhouse. At the end of the day, this competition was an opportunity for local creatives to come together and share our passion for fashion - and to look really, really good while doing it :D
